Before you start

Good questions, honest answers.

Everything below is based on how CNCF's sponsorship programme runs today, plus the portal features we propose. Wording to be confirmed with the sponsorship team. The new site simply puts it on the page instead of in an email.

800+

CNCF programme figure. On the live site this number updates from the sponsorship team's records.

What does my sponsorship include?+

School, a welcome pack with their story, and updates you can reply to. Your monthly gift goes directly to your child's family to keep them in school, managed by CNCF's programme teams in Vietnam and Mongolia so that support reaches the child and their family safely.

You receive a welcome pack with your child's first name, photo and story, an update and new photo each school year, and the option to write letters.

Can I write to my child?+

Yes. You write from your sponsor portal. A CNCF social worker in Vietnam or Mongolia screens and translates every letter in both directions before delivery. Replies take a little time because they are carried on real home visits.

Can I visit?+

Visits can be arranged through CNCF's team in Ho Chi Minh City or Ulaanbaatar with four weeks' notice. A CNCF staff member accompanies every visitor, and every visitor signs CNCF's Images and Visitors Agreement. These rules protect your child and you.

Is my child's identity protected?+

Yes. You will know your child's first name, age, province and interests, never a surname, exact address or school. Names and details are changed where needed for child protection. Photos and stories are shared only with the consent of the child and their guardian, and that consent can be withdrawn at any time.

Can I pause or stop?+

Yes, at any time, from your portal or by emailing the sponsorship team. There is no minimum term and no questions asked. If you stop, CNCF's social workers look for a new sponsor so that your child's schooling continues.

Safeguarding first. Sponsorship at CNCF runs under the Global Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy. Every sponsor agrees to it at sign-up. Every letter, photo and visit is checked by a trained CNCF social worker. If something ever worries you, raise a concern.

Dear Sarah, a short note from the ger districts. Saruul started Grade 6 this week with a new uniform and books funded by your gift. She asked me to tell you the football team kept her on as a defender. Her letter is below, with my translation.

Hello Sarah!

I finished Grade 5 this year. Drawing is my favourite lesson at school. The winter was very cold, but the warm clothes you sent helped us a lot. I joined the football team and I play as a defender.

Thank you to you and your family.

Dear Saruul, congratulations on finishing Grade 5! We loved the drawing of your family's ger. My daughter Amy has stuck it on our fridge. Is football played in winter too, or only in summer? We think of you often.

With love, Sarah

How Letters keeps children safe

Built on CNCF's safeguarding policy.

Every feature in this portal follows the Global Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy. No exceptions for sponsors, staff or technology.

  • Consent, always

Nothing appears here without the child's and guardian's recorded consent: first name, photo, milestones and letters. Consent is logged per item and can be withdrawn at any time.

  • First names only

No surnames, schools, addresses or location data. Photos are stripped of metadata before upload.

  • Right to withdraw

A child or guardian can pause or remove their profile at any time. Sponsors are told, and their gift keeps going to the programme.
